ACP updated its guidance on primary osteoporosis and recommended that bisphosphonates be used as a first line defense to reduce fracture risk for men and women after menopause.
The new guideline was published in Annals of Internal Medicine. It is based upon an updated systematic review of evidence. This included 36 observational studies and 34 randomised clinical trials.
