
The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery published results that showed a correlation between career burnout and gender equity barriers, with 50.5% of Canadian women orthopedic surgeons reporting burnout.
Laurie A. Hiemstra MD PhD FRCSC and her colleagues electronically surveyed over 330 Canadian women orthopedic surgeons to assess their career burnout, satisfaction with their jobs and role at the workplace.
The 218 respondents reported that 77.1% were satisfied with the job they had and 66.1% with the role they played at work;
