
According to published findings, patients 90 years of age and older (often referred to nonagenarians) are at increased risk of serious complications after total hip surgery.
Researchers performed an observational cohort of 263,967 THA procedure from November 2012 until December 2021. The study had a follow-up of 1,070 day. Patients were divided into 4 cohorts according to their age: 60 to69 years (n=91363), 70-79 (n=117324), 80-89 (n=53421) and over 90 (n=1,859). The outcomes included both major and minor complications.
