Research published in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery revealed that corticosteroid injections had better short-term efficacy and platelet-rich plasma injections had better long-term efficacy in patients with rotator Cuff injuries.
Researchers used PubMed and Embase databases to review nine random control trials (RCTs). They compared corticosteroids with PRP in 469 patients who sustained rotator cuff injury.
Researchers compared the scores of Constant, simple shoulder tests (SST), and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons scores to determine whether corticosteroid (n) was effective.
