According to published studies, patients with calcific shoulder tendinopathy did not benefit from ultrasound-guided lavage and corticosteroid treatment compared with a sham procedure.
Researchers conducted a triple-arm, blinded, randomized, controlled trial on 218 patients who had calcific tendinopathy in the shoulder and presented at six hospitals between April 24, 2015 and March 3, 2020. Oxford Shoulder Scores (OSS) and QuickDASH upper extremity score at 2 years were the outcomes.
The first cohort included 73 people.
