Results presented at The Musculoskeletal infection Society Annual Meeting indicated that two-stage arthroplasty combined with local antibiotics irrigation is a method of treatment for chronic periprosthetic infections.
“In conclusion, the adverse events were similar between the experimental and the control arm with this current treatment. In the experimental arm there were few device and procedure-related incidents. The vancomycin-tobramycin levels also show that serum antibiotics are within safe levels.
