QUEBEC CITY — In this video from the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society Annual Meeting, Sara E. Buckley, DO, spoke on the genetic and epigenetic factors that influence progression to end-stage ankle osteoarthritis.

“This is important so we better understand the mechanisms of disease progression, and ultimately, it will allow us to potentially intervene at the time of injury if we know what is predisposing someone to OA,” she said. “If we understand how that progresses, we can tackle that more head-on than symptom management, which is where OA treatment is focused so far.”
