Published results show that wheelchair users have higher rates of complications, readmissions and readmissions 1 year after total shoulder replacement compared to non-wheelchair users

Researchers used PearlDiver Mariner’s national administrative database to analyse the surgical outcomes of 72108 patients who had undergone TSA for a tear in their rotator-cuff between 2010 and 2021. The researchers created two cohorts of matched patients: 869 wheelchair users, and 869 nonwheelchair users.
Researchers found that wheelchair users were more likely to have preoperative comorbidities.
