QUEBEC CITY — In this video from the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society Annual Meeting, Murray J. Penner, MD, FRCS(C), discusses the historical efforts and the latest research out of the Canadian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.

Penner served as president of the Canadian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (COFAS) from 2013 to 2014.

“COFAS has beginnings back in the early 2000s. Around 2001 and 2002, a small group of like-minded foot and ankle surgeons across Canada decided it was time to get together and take on some shared interest in the foot and ankle space, an area that was coming into its own,” he said. “When we started out, our goal was to focus on research and education, and that is what we have been able to do.”

Working with the AOFAS and the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, Penner and his colleagues at COFAS have shown a specific interest in advancing ankle arthritis research.
