According to a press release, Scripps Health received a grant of $2.7 million from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine for research on pluripotent stem cell therapy for rotator cuff injuries.
According to the release, researchers at the Scripps Clinic’s Shiley Center for Orthopaedic Research and Education will assess tendon cells’ biological makeup and create biologically engineered tendon. This would allow patients suffering from rotator-cuff tears to heal their native tissue.
