A heated mattress is not preferred during arthroplasty. Instead, a warm air blanket should be used.
The published results show that patients with heated mattresses spend longer in post-operative wards, possibly due to a higher rate of hypothermia.
Researchers conducted a retrospective cohort of 4,683 patients undergoing total hip or knee replacements from Jan. 1, 2015. to May 1, 2022.
