Published results revealed that surgical team dynamics such as staff rotation and the presence or surgeon-preferred personnel may have an impact on operative times and procedure efficiency.
Henry C. Cousins MPhil and colleagues retrospectively analysed staff characteristics and operating time from 279 total hip and knee arthroplasties, performed by five surgeons at a tertiary medical center from January 2018 through December 2018. Researchers studied the impact of intraoperative turnover of staff, presence of surgical students, and presence of surgeon preferred staff on incision times.
