UKA showed lower joint awareness, reduced pain, and improved function when compared to TKA

The results showed that patients who received unicompartmental arthroplasty for medial-compartment osteoarthritis had lower levels of joint awareness, reduced pain, improved function, and greater satisfaction than those who received total knee arthroplasty.
Researchers analyzed two groups of medial compartment-OA patients who received either UKA (or TKA) between 2014 & 2015. The UKA cohort comprised 127 UKAs in 120 patients (mean of 69 years), and the TKA group consisted in 118 TKAs (mean of 71 years). At least five years after the event, outcomes were evaluated.
