DALLAS — In this video from the Orthopaedic Research Society Annual Meeting, Sara E. Sacher spoke about flexural rigidity of total hip arthroplasty implants with differing imaging and histological features.
“A lower flexural rigidity may allow these hip implants with modular connections to have increased micromotion, which can lead to fretting and corrosion,” she said. “These corrosion products can lead to inflammatory tissue responses and potentially early need for revision surgery,” Sacher added.
